Description
- CBG is the sole Transmission System Operator (TSO) in Latvia and owns all assets associated with the Latvian Gas Transmission System. It is also the sole Storage System Operator (SSO) in Latvia and owns and operates the Incukalns Underground Gas Storage (IUGS).
- CBG owns 1,190 km of Gas Transmission Pipelines supplying the regions of Latvia and connecting Latvia to Estonia, and Lithuania.
- The IUGS Facility is the only functioning gas storage facility in the Baltic States, which ensures the stability of regional natural gas supply. During the summer season, when the consumption of natural gas is lower than during the winter season, natural gas is injected into the storage facility so as to be available for supply during the heating season.
- The IUGS has been in operation since 1968. The current active storage capacity is 2.3bn m³, which can be increased up to 3.2bn m³.
